PROBLEM:
WPD FileSystem Volume Driver
Has yellow exclamation point in Device Manager.
Cannot connect to card reader or USB-connected camera. Plugging in the camera results in
another instance of the WPD FileSystem Volume Driver being shown, also with the yellow
exclamation point.
Camera and cable were tried on an XP computer, and connected OK.
Plugging in other devices, such as a thumb drive or USB-connected hard disk, works fine.
In Device Manager, under 'General' tab in properties for the device: 'This device is not
working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code
31)'
In Device Manager, tried uninstalling the WPD FileSystem Volume Driver and then scanning for
new hardware. Exclamation point still there.
Right-click on the device, and select 'Update Driver / Search automatically....'
Prolonged period of 'searching online for software.' Result: 'The best driver for your
device is already installed.' Still doesn't work, still lists Code 31 in properties.

Other things tried:
Trying all of the different USB ports, including the USB3 ports, with the camera. Always the
same problem as above
Removing the drivers listed by device manager manually (WpdFs.dll and WUDFRd.sys), and
allowing update drivers to download and reinstall them.
Using a wpdmtp.inf file from another computer.

I can not get 'last known configuration' to work. The F8 key while rebooting has no effect.
I've tried it several times, using two different keyboards.
So far nothing has worked.
Note that as recently as four weeks ago, the camera DID connect OK, and the card reader did
work. Something has changed.
