Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is an Indian Hindi television drama serial which has been premiered on 12 January 2009. The show is created by Director’s Kut Productions which narrates a story of a Rajasthani Family based in Udaipur. The show is the longest running Indian television drama in terms of episode count and even beaten ‘Baalika Vadhu’. The show airs on Star plus every Monday to Friday at 9 :30 pm IST. The Indian drama soap opera is directed by Romesh Kalra, Rishi Mandial and Ram Pandey. The show features Shivangi Joshi as Naira, Mohsin Khan as Kartik and Rishi Dev as Naksh for the lead roles. The basic story of the show is about a young couple and how they are managing themselves into a joint family, facing challenges and other adjustment problems. Being parent himself, it also a challenge to teach them righteously to love and have loved each other. The story has 4 leaps so far where first one is of 4 years, second one is of 10 years and then 7 years following 6 months. Every leap motivates a major change in storyline through the timeline of the series as well as including of new or developed characters. As being the longest serial, it has 61 seasons distributed in 2,455 episodes by 18th August 2017 which is one of its own achievement. The theme or title track is sung by Alka Yagnik. The show is one of the highest TRP consuming television series which is not only popular in India but also in neighbouring countries as well as abroad. The initial cast of the series was Naira’s parents Hina Khan and Rohan Mehra as lead roles which after the leap extended by their children now.
